My background as a Special Education teacher has convinced me that a cookie-cutter approach to success simply does not work. I enjoy working on a highly personal level with students and clients, taking time to understand each person’s unique background and motivation for writing.
My background includes:
- B.A in English & Child Development from Tufts University
- M.A from Columbia University
- New York State Teaching License
I have enjoyed working with clients from all walks of life including high school students navigating the college application process, writers for whom English is not a primary language, graduate students working on a final thesis, and volunteers fundraising for their own salaries.
My Coaching Philosophy
My goal is to work alongside you through the writing process, keeping in mind your unique background, perspective, and ultimate set of goals. I aim to leave you with a sense of accomplishment and confidence that your writing clearly and powerfully communicates who you are as well as the ideas you wish to convey. I cannot agree to writing for you or on any client’s behalf.
The writing process will be a cooperative effort through which I will help edit, provide suggestions for restructuring, and equip you with ideas that will take your writing to the next level.
Coaching is typically conducted via e-mail and Google Docs in a timely and encouraging manner. At times, I may ask you probing questions or send you resources such as articles that will allow you to brainstorm/think more deeply about the content of your essay. You can expect full confidentiality – ensuring your name, target schools, and writing will not be shared publicly or privately.
I understand that every client’s situation is unique and that not every writing project falls neatly under one of the services listed below. In such cases, I am happy to work with you to come up with a fair price or to identify the best-fit service for your needs.
